My main pair of bodies are now 4 years old and in need of replacement. I also wanted to try something new with my next pair. I have alwasy admired the portrait of Elizabeth Vernon in her lovley pink bodies and when I recieved my copy of the Tudor Tailor and saw that the had included information on addapting two styles of bodies to create the Elizabeth Vernon style I decided to try my hand at it. I chose to pattern my bodies after their effigy adaptation since it was a different style than I had made before and I wanted to try my hand at a something new.
I wanted my bodies to be very similar to the Vernon bodies but not an exact copy. I fashioned my bodies out of a pink silk dupioni and sewed all of the channels by hand with red silk thread. They are lined with two layers of fustian and boned with pan reeds which are insterted between the two fustian layers so as to protect the silk layer.
